Level I Blacksmith Curriculum Certificate Program
The Level I Blacksmith Curriculum was developed by renowned blacksmith and educator Mark Aspery in partnership with the California Blacksmith Association (CBA). It has since been adopted by the Artist-Blacksmith's Association of North America (ABANA) as its national Level I curriculum.
Upon successful completion of the course and approval of the final gate latch project, students will receive a Maui Forge Blacksmith School Certificate of Completion.
Students who wish to receive an official CBA and/or ABANA Level I Certificate may do so by becoming a member of the respective organization (annual membership required). Once your final project has been approved, Maui Forge will submit your completion to the education chairs of CBA and ABANA, who will then issue your official certificates.
What's Included
- All steel and project materials
- Full use of forge, tools, and equipment
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Instruction for the complete Level I curriculum
- One supervised skills practice session each week (dates and times to be announced)
Throughout the course, students will forge many of their own blacksmithing tools along with the required curriculum projects, creating a portfolio of work to take home.
Additional forge practice beyond the weekly supervised session is encouraged. Extra Open Forge sessions are available on a BYOP (Bring Your Own Propane) basis.
